The Essex Mark Grand Auction, held at Saxon Hall on Sunday, proved to be a truly magnificent event — one that perfectly captured the spirit of generosity, fellowship, and fun that defines our Mark family.
 
With around a hundred enthusiastic attendees gathered for the occasion, the atmosphere was electric from the very start. More than a hundred lots went under the hammer, ranging from unique memorabilia and fine wines to special experiences and dining vouchers. The bidding was lively, good-humoured, and often spirited, as friendly competition took hold across the room.
 
By the end of the afternoon, the auction had raised in excess of £10,000 — a remarkable achievement and a testament to the commitment and kindness of everyone involved.
 
There were plenty of standout moments. Two £100 vouchers for Vita Bella Italian Restaurant became the talk of the night when both sold for well above their face value. This was a clear reflection of the enthusiasm and goodwill that filled the room — bidders were not just competing for prizes but contributing to a cause they genuinely care about.

​The success of the evening was the result of tremendous effort and teamwork from Richard Goodwin and the Festival team and all who helped organise, donate, and take part. The sense of camaraderie was palpable, and laughter filled the hall as bids flew and friendly rivalries emerged. Professional Auctioneer Mark Stacey captivated the attention of the assembled crowd and maintained a perfect balance of humour and efficiency.  At one point he had one bidder outbidding himself. 
 
As the gavel fell on the final lot, it was clear that this year’s Essex Mark Grand Auction was more than just a fundraiser — it was a celebration of community, generosity, and shared purpose.

Thank you to everyone who made it possible — our donors, bidders, helpers, and organiser’s. Together, we not only enjoyed a fantastic afternoon but also achieved something incredibly special and raised a substantial sum.
