ITALIAN - ANTICA ROMA - 2022
Monday 5 September saw the inaugural charity meal organised by Love and Remembrance Lodge No.1718 at Antica Roma Restaurant, Rochford. The D.P.G.M. John Finlay and A.P.G.M. Richard Goodwin accompanied by their wives joined in the festivities, making for a grand total of 52 in attendance.
Due to the warm weather, which brought about inspiration from the garishly loud shirts traditionally worn by Dave Todd and Len Abrahams, our Charity Steward and event organiser Austin Latham donned his own Technicolor dream-shirt in homage!
The food was traditional Italian fare served by a very organised and friendly front of house, which included starters and a main course with coffee and desserts to follow.
A bottle raffle was held for a 1 litre Jameson’s Irish whisky and Jack Daniel’s, followed by the main raffle where a plethora of donated gifts ended up in the hands of many lucky winners.
A special thanks goes to Austin for a wonderful evening, especially his willingness to run between two different areas of the restaurant to announce raffle numbers, and especially to Rhona Latham for organising the sale of tickets and distributing the prizes.
A.P.G.M. Richard Goodwin gave a talk about the 2030 Festival, expressing how important these fundraising events are in making it a success, followed by Austin closing the evening by thanking all in attendance.
The evening raised a grand total of £641 for the 2030 Festival!
